According to reports, Amazon recruited two important e-bike delivery team executives in New York City, one of whom had worked for Uber. This move indicates that the company may see this as a new way to speed up delivery.
Alex Vikers joined Amazon in June this year as the senior project manager of the electric bicycle department . He previously worked for the business development team of the electric bicycle rental company Jump, which was acquired by Uber in 2018. Sale of Lime, a business startup company, in May. Wicks announced this personal career change on Monday.
Amazon also recruited Justin Ginsburgh in June to lead the electric bike team. He previously co-founded the Citi Bike bike-sharing service in New York and held leadership positions at JetBlue and Motivate, a bike-sharing company under Lyft.
Both Wicks and Ginsberg will work in New York City. It is not yet clear about the number of employees in the Amazon electric bike team, nor is it clear about Amazon’s specific plans. An Amazon spokesperson has not yet responded.
