Today, Amazon announced on its official blog the launch of Amazon One, a palmprint recognition technology, and decided to put the technology in Amazon unmanned stores. Later, it may be promoted to more third-party stores, Places such as stadiums and office buildings.

According to an official Amazon statement, currently only two Amazon Go stores in Seattle support this application.

It is not difficult to use it. Insert a credit card and hover your palm on the recognition machine. Follow the prompts to bind the card with the user’s personal palmprint. After registration, when users enter these Amazon Go stores to pay, users only need to place their palms on the Amazon One recognition device for about one second when entering.

It is worth mentioning that users can choose to register with a single palm or two palms. Compared with the current mainstream biometric technologies such as fingerprints, this technology has advantages in privacy, security, contactlessness, and rapid recognition, but the recognition accuracy and other information are still unknown. In addition, it is currently only supported by Amazon’s own store, and it is unclear whether domestic companies will introduce this technology .

Naija Tech News understands that although it has not disclosed which partners will adopt Amazon One palmprint recognition technology, the company said it is currently in active discussions with a number of potential customers.
