The AirPods 3rd generation brings multiple improvements, from design to chipset to battery life, all of which are key to the listening and ease of use when it comes to earbuds and headphones.
Starting with the design, the AirPods third generation feature a design similar to the Apple AirPods Pro, but the smartphone giant seems to think that this is a new design, we will let them have this one, so yes, the AirPods 3rd generation feature a “new design”.
The major difference to the AirPods Pro is the eartips, since the AirPods 3rd gen miss out on the eartips that ship with the Pro version of the AirPods.
Coming back to the audio side of things, the AirPods 3rd generation feature support for Dolby Atmos (for Apple Music) and have Spatial Audio, which according to Apple now has dynamic head tracking on the AirPods
There is also a new custom driver for the AirPods 3rd gen, which offers better sound. Apple also mentions that the earbuds will feature Adaptive EQ, which will make listening to music a true joy.
AirPods 3 Price and Availability
The new earbuds costs $179 and its available for pre-order. They will be available in more than 27 countries and regions on October 26. The AirPods 2 are still going to be sold, for $129. If you want to go a step up, the AirPods Pro are still around, adding active noise cancellation to your experience for $249 – and now they also ship with a MagSafe-compatible charging case.
