Apple iPad Air 4/iPad 8 released, iPad sales to pick up to 50 million units this year

In the early morning of September 16, Apple held a new product launch conference in the fall of 2020, and released two iPads and two Apple Watches, but no iPhone 12 mobile phones appeared.

Naijatechnews reported that Apple this time released the iPad Air 4 equipped with the A14 chip , the iPad 8 equipped with the A12 chip, as well as the upgraded Apple Watch Series 6 with the first S6 chip (based on A13) and the entry-level Apple Watch SE.

CITIC Securities Research Institute released the latest report.

In 2018/2019, the shipment volume of iWatch reached 2250/30.7 million units, +27%/+36% year-on-year. According to Counterpoint data, Apple Watch shipped approximately 21.6 million units in the first half of 2020, and it is expected that the sales volume in 2020 will exceed 40 million units. After continuing to explore and clarify the health positioning, CITIC Securities expects that iWatch will grow rapidly in 2021, with sales reaching about 60 million. The key companies are recommended to pay attention to USI, Changxin Technology, and Pengding Holdings.

At present, the former Apple tablets range from iPad, mini, Air, and Pro series, with different positioning. The overall sales volume from 2018 to 2019 is 4487/45.8 million, which is +2.4%/+2.1% year-on-year. Looking to the future, iPad is positioned as entertainment electronic devices and portable productivity tools, and the epidemic situation has stimulated demand for distance education/office. CITIC Securities predicts that sales volume in 2020 is expected to rebound to 50 million units, +10% year-on-year. Key companies suggest paying attention to BYD Electronics, Changying Precision, and Lingyizhi Manufacturing.
