Apple iPhone 12/mini/Pro can already enjoy YouTube HDR video playback

MacRumors reported that the latest Google YouTube app update (v15.45.2) adds HDR video playback support for iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Since iPhone X, the YouTube iOS app has always supported HDR, but it needs to be updated to support the latest hardware.

To check if you are watching YouTube videos in the highest quality, you can simply press the three dots at the top right of the video and you should see the “HDR” option listed on the supported videos.

Naijatechnews is informed that the YouTube video HDR option is only available for devices with OLED displays released since 2017 (and therefore does not include all iPad models and iPhone 11, iPhone XR).
