The media evaluation of Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max has been launched earlier, and the depth camera test of photographer Austin Mann has also been released.
Apple uses different cameras on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. Pro Max has a larger sensor and larger pixels, plus a different telephoto lens.
Although the iPhone 12 Pro Max has better camera hardware than the Pro, Mann said that in his tests, under most light conditions, he “hardly saw the difference between the two iPhones.”
The exception is semi-low light scenes, such as after sunset or night city scenes . In these cases, it takes two seconds for the iPhone 12 Pro to take night mode photos, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max only takes one second, because the latter’s sensor has a larger amount of light, which makes the photos taken by Pro Max better , Because there is less shaking and subject movement.
Mann also saw improvements when shooting in low-light scenes with a tripod in night mode and a 30-second exposure. Of course, there is also the 5x optical zoom brought by the 2.5x optical zoom lens of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The 12 Pro Max’s telephoto lens has a longer focal length and a faster minimum shutter speed, so you can zoom in further.
All in all, Mann said that although he expected the iPhone 12 Pro Max to perform significantly better than the iPhone 12 Pro in the evaluation, the difference between the two is limited to “very specific scenarios . ” He liked the extra telephoto range and low-light performance of the iPhone 12 Pro Max, but he did not like its huge size, which made it difficult to operate as a one-handed camera.
Both models are “a huge leap in imaging capabilities,” Mann said, no matter which model you choose, people will “completely enjoy” the fun of shooting with the new camera.
Mann took a set of photos under various light conditions in Zion National Park, Utah. Interested IT house friends can take a look at the camera capabilities of the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

He also compared the night shots of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Whether from handheld shooting (3 seconds exposure) or tripod shooting (30 seconds exposure), iPhone 12 Pro Max is better than iPhone 12 Pro in terms of details. :
