Apple researched and produced two kinds of masks for employees
Apple said on Wednesday that it has developed two types of masks and started distributing them to employees to limit the spread of the new crown virus.
These two masks (called Apple Face Mask and Apple ClearMask respectively) are the first time Apple has developed for its employees. The company previously developed a face mask for medical staff and distributed millions of masks to medical staff.
Apple told employees that these masks were developed by the company’s engineering and industrial design team, which is responsible for designing products such as iPhone and iPad.
According to reports, Apple Face Mask has three layers of filter cloth to filter out particles. Apple told employees that the Apple Face Mask can be cleaned and reused up to five times.
Apple said that these masks are completely designed and produced by the company. The company said it has conducted meticulous research and testing to find suitable materials for air filtration without affecting the supply chain of medical personal protective equipment.
Apple will begin distributing Apple Face Mask to employees in the next two weeks.
Apple told employees that another type of mask is ClearMask, which is the first transparent medical mask approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The mask can reveal the full face, so the hearing impaired can better understand what the wearer is saying.
Apple previously provided employees with standard cloth masks. The company also provides ordinary medical masks for customers visiting its retail stores.
