A popular Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, said that Apple will be hitting the foldable smartphone market segment as soon as 2023, with the launch of an 8-inch foldable iPhone.
The device will reportedly feature an 8-inch QHD+ flexible OLED display and use a silver nanowire touch solution for the device’s display.
According to the report, the foldable iPhone is expected to use a new silver nanowire touch solution for the display, which is essential for foldable smartphones that have more than one fold.
The report also mentions other competing brands like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor. They will all enter the foldable race by the end of this year or at the beginning of the next one with a total volume of about 17 million units.
Apple in particular is expected to ship nearly 15 to 20 million foldable iPhones in 2023.
It is important to note that this news is highly speculative and if the market doesn’t adopt the new form factor, Apple could easily scrape all foldable plans.
