Bezos "will give away most of his wealth in his lifetime": the world's 4th richest man says

Bezos Bezos

November 14 news, former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in an interview with CNN that he intends to donate most of his net worth to charity in his lifetime , most of which will be used for Fight climate change or support those who can create “solidarity” for humanity.

While Bezos gave few details, he and partner Lauren Sanchez said they were “building the ability to distribute this wealth to others” and wanted to make the most of the investment.

Naijatechnews learned that according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Bezos is the fourth richest person in the world, with a net worth of $124 billion (currently about 881.64 billion yuan) .

You are probably familiar with the way the rich donate their wealth. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is known for donating to charities and scientific research through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and co-founded with Warren Buffett The Giving Pledge to encourage billionaires to donate at least half of their money to good causes.

In 2015, Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg pledged to donate 99% of the company’s shares to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, then worth $45 billion. Facebook’s founders also signed a donation pledge in 2010.

However, like other tech CEOs who have donated large sums, Bezos has faced criticism for his company. Amazon has repeatedly opposed climate legislation, and its emissions have soared in 2024 despite pledges to reduce its impact on the environment. While Bezos believes Amazon needs to treat its employees better, poor warehouse working conditions at the heart of the problem also emerged during his leadership.
