Did Roald Dahl Explain Bitcoin Best?

Roald Dahl:
• famous children’s book author
• subject of a recent record-breaking Netflix acquisition
• crypto savant?

That’s right. We have reason to believe that Roald Dahl was a reluctant futurist who anticipated the crypto revolution.

Consider these clues he left in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Theory: The Oompa Loompas represent the Bitcoin ecosystem.

• They get paid in chocolate to produce chocolate, just like miners get paid in bitcoin to mine bitcoin.
• Lacking individuality, they are fungible. Just like bitcoin.
• They are orange. Just. Like. Bitcoin.

Still not convinced?

Theory: Charlie Bucket and the golden tickets actually explain Bitcoin mining.

• Searching for a golden ticket inside the wrapper of a candy bar, Charlie is like a miner.
• The golden ticket, the sought after prize that will grant Charlie access to Willy Wonka’s factory, is like a block reward.
• Willy Wonka’s contest idea incentivized children around the world to perform the same task: methodically unwrapping candy bars and confirming those that contain golden tickets. These other children are like a worldwide network of fellow miners.
• As they open Wonka bars, they are “auditing” the Wonka supply chain (blockchain) and validating each other’s work; in other words, everybody checks each others’ “winning tickets.” Neither duplicates nor fake tickets pass inspection. Just like Bitcoin confirmations.
• There are a set number of tickets. Once they’ve all been found, that’s it. 7 tickets, 21 million Bitcoin.

If only there were some pseudonymous figure behind Bitcoin, someone who could match the mystery and wonder of a character like Willy Wonka…

Conclusion: Roald Dahl is Satoshi Nakamoto.
