The saying “More is Less” perhaps does not ring quite true when looking for the best resolution to play video games on.
Indeed, the resolution is all about the visual ability in which a monitor is able to display a set amount of pixels on a screen. Pixels will typically be the standard measure when it comes down to monitors and there are a fair few of them to choose from as they come in various different sizes.
One easy way to look at it, though, is the more pixels that are available, the better the image quality will be as it will be a lot sharper and clearer when displayed on the monitor being used. Gamers, though, will want to be able to have a resolution that will be on the higher end of the scale, as the visuals are simply just part of the playing experience.
However, with so many different options to choose from, it can be difficult to answer the question about what resolution is the best for gaming. Nonetheless, this blog post will take a look at trying to do that and provide some useful information.
1080p
Firstly, the most common resolution available at the moment is the 1080p monitors and these are often referred to as being Full HD (FHD). The visuals offered on these screens are clear, sharp and immersive and despite being the standard offering, they remain as popular as ever for casual gamers.
1440p
The next level from 1080p and a significant upgrade is the 1440p (Quad HD or QHD). The 2k monitors used to provide these pixels will allow for images to be sharp, clear and even more immersive and will not have an impact on the performance of a computer when games are being played.
Video gaming is not the only activity where a good monitor it’s a big improvement. Those who like to play online with a computer at an online casino and enjoy live dealer blackjack may prefer to use a screen that displays this number of pixels as it will give them the complete realistic experience that developers are continuing to aim for when they release their titles.
2160p
Otherwise known as Ultra HD, UHD or 4K, 2160p is the standard that gamers have been working up to over the years as the pixels made available in these screens are incredible and were once unimaginable.
They provide state-of-the-art visuals that are incredibly realistic, although it does come at a cost that is not cheap. However, game developers are working hard to go from the 1080p standard that they have and into the 2160p step, especially as games consoles improve with the latest innovative technology.
4320p
Full Ultra HD (FUHD), or otherwise known as 8K 4320p, is the crown jewel of resolution at the moment and one that remains a little too hard for games to reach at the moment. There are only a few titles that are available to be played at this resolution, but with it being the future, there is no doubt that more will be released once possible.
However, it should be noted that these should only be bought for those gamers who are perhaps professional eSports players, as they are incredibly expensive pieces of technology.
What is best for gaming, then?
As you can see from the pixel resolutions outlined above, there are a number of different options that are available to choose from, with it being to argue that there is no obvious or even correct choice that will fit and suit the needs of everyone.
With many games still working on a 1080p screen, this is perhaps the right choice for casual gamers, although the 1440p resolution is perhaps the best one for gaming currently as it is the resolution that the gaming industry appears to be designing titles for in the immediate future.
It is not just the gaming industry that has started to optimize their content for 4K use, as many movies and TV shows have started to make themselves compatible for viewing on these impressive screens.
Whilst 2160p and 4320p are obviously nice options to have, only serious gamers should really be considering these, as many titles are not quite available yet, whilst they can also provide individuals with a big hit financially.
