According to Apple whistleblower Jon Prosser (Jon Prosser), Apple is preparing to hold a special event in November, when it will release the company’s first Mac product using Apple chips .
On Thursday, without citing sources, Proser said that the upcoming special event will focus on “ARM Mac” devices, in layman’s terms, Apple’s own chip Mac.
“It is confirmed in November that there will be an ARM Mac event,” Proser wrote on Twitter, “I heard that the time is November 17. “
Last week, before Proser’s post, there were also reports that Apple intends to release the first “Apple Core” Mac and “other products” at another event in November. This implies that when the new Apple core computer is released, other existing products using Intel chips will also be updated. Apple has previously confirmed that the company will continue to use Intel processors during the transition to its own chips.
It is not clear which model of Mac will be the first to use the “Apple Core”. In June, there were rumors that Apple planned to relaunch the 12-inch MacBook with the “A14X” processor. A report in August stated that this 12-inch MacBook will be equipped with a custom GPU, use a USB-C connection, weigh less than 1 kg, and have a battery life of 15 to 20 hours. Even, it is rumored that the device will also support 5G cellular networks.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo gave a timetable in July, predicting that the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and the updated MacBook Air will be the first to adopt Apple’s own chips in the fourth quarter of 2020. Immediately afterwards, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBooks and other products are expected to be replaced with Apple’s own chips in the second or third quarter of 2021.
