The main issue gamers face when playing Deathloop is the very choppy frame rate. Everything runs pretty choppy, even for gamers with high-end graphics cards like the latest RTX 3080 Ti on their rigs.
Some players believe that this is the result of Denuvo’s anti-piracy measures implemented in the game code, given that they have caused similar problems in other major games in the past, such as Resident Evil Village, where a hacked version of the game with DRM removed had significantly better performance than its retail counterpart, as Digital Foundry found.
How to fix stuttering in Deathloop
Until Arkane gets to the bottom of Deathloop’s stuttering issues, the best thing to do is tweak various graphics settings. This is by no means ideal as you’ll want to play the game in the best possible visuals and performance, but for now it’s just a solution.
Specifically, you want to change the Frame Rate option to lock or “cap” it at 60 FPS. While your PC and monitor can run the game at higher frame rates, Reddit gamers have noted that limiting the frame rate to 60FPS seems to solve the problem.
On top of that, you’ll want to disable NVIDIA G-Sync in-game (if you have an NVIDIA graphics card) and enable it in the NVIDIA Control Panel. It may sound a bit strange, but it is the recommended way to use the function to get the best possible performance.
