Creating a business invoice with Canva couldn’t be easier. Let’s run through how to build a professional, on-brand invoice in just a few clicks.
How to Design an Invoice With Canva
To design an invoice in Canva, start by opening Canva in your desktop browser and creating a free account if you don’t already have one. While you don’t need a Canva Pro account to build yourself a business invoice, it will give you access to a broader range of templates and design elements and could help you to get the most out of the Canva software.
Next, on your home screen, head to the large blue section titled What will you design? From there, click on the briefcase Office tab. Here, you’ll find a whole range of business documents. Scroll across until you find Invoice.
Now, you’ll have a blank A4 page in front of you, but to your left is where the magic happens. One of the best things about using Canva to design your documents is that Canva comes with hundreds of pre-designed templates, making it effortless to create a document that looks like you spent hours designing it.
On the left-hand side of the screen, under the Templates tab, you’ll be able to search for templates or browse through Canva’s pre-existing categories such as Business Invoice, Service Invoice, and Commercial Invoice. Keep an eye out for the Free and Pro logo in the bottom right-hand corner of each template thumbnail.
If you’re using a free Canva account, then you’ll need to stick to free templates. Once you’ve settled on your design, simply click it, and it will appear on your A4 piece of paper.
Can You Edit Canva Templates?
Once you have chosen a template, you have the freedom to edit it as much as you wish. To change the color of elements, simply select them, navigate to the colored square at the top of the screen, and then select your new color. If you want to change all elements from one color to another, then select the Change All button to save time. You can also do this on the Canva app.
To edit text elements, simply double-click them and re-type your chosen text. Don’t like where something is placed; then you can move it around by dragging and dropping it elsewhere.
If your chosen template lacks something, you can spend as long as you like making your invoice your own in the Elements tab on the left-hand side. Here, you’ll find shapes, lines, images, graphics, and everything in between—just remember to stick to free elements if you’re using a free account.
Once you’re happy with your invoice, head to the down arrow in the top right-hand corner of the screen to download your design. Canva automatically suggests that you download invoice documents as a PDF to print, but you can change this if you wish.
There’s No Limit to Your Imagination With Canva
Whatever your business, you’ll find a way to express yourself with Canva. Canva makes it easy for anyone to design beautiful and professional business documentation from invoices to letterheads, social media posts, and even websites. Let your imagination run wild!
