Today, the NPE team from Facebook is announcing an invite-only beta of Collab, a new iOS app that brings together creators and fans to create, watch, and mix and match original videos, starting with music.
Music is one of the most powerful creative outlets. With Collab, we’re leveraging technology to help people unlock creative superpowers by collaborating on original music videos from anywhere. In light of so many folks sheltered in place around the world, we’ve expedited this release.
Collaborate on music videos
Collabs are three independent videos that are playing in sync. With the app, you can create your own arrangement by adding in your own recording or by swiping and discovering an arrangement to complete your composition. No musical experience is required.
Share across platforms
Once you’ve created a collab, you can publish it for others to watch and mix and match further. You can also share yours or others’ creations to Instagram, Facebook Stories, or any other platform, with just a few taps.
Feel closer while we’re apart
Collab has made our team feel closer together, even though we are all apart, and we hope it does the same for you. We still have plenty of work left to polish the experience (disclaimer: there may be bugs and if you find an issue, please report it). With your feedback, we’ll continue iterating in an effort to build an experience that everyone enjoys.
To request access, sign up for our waitlist at https://npe.fb.com/collab. We’ll be opening up invites in batches, starting with folks in the US and Canada, as we continue to improve the experience. You can stay up to date on invites and all things Collab in our Facebook group.
