According to news on January 7, after being strongly opposed by users, Mozilla has joined the ranks of companies and organizations that have given up the use of cryptocurrency. Mozilla said on Thursday that it will temporarily stop accepting donations to the Mozilla Foundation through the BitPay platform. The Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary Mozilla developed the Firefox browser.
Last week, Mozilla tweeted on Twitter, calling for the use of cryptocurrency to donate to it, which aroused the anger of the open source community. Jamie Zawinski, the co-founder of Mozilla, Netscape, and several core Internet technologies, responded: “Everyone involved in this project should work with the Ponzi crook who incinerated the planet. I feel so ashamed of the decision.”

Zavinsky’s focus is on environmental concerns caused by cryptocurrencies . In January last year, Mozilla’s “Sustainability Leader” Cathleen Berger (Cathleen Berger) released a list of climate commitments, claiming that “the most effective climate mitigation strategy is to avoid emissions.”
