According to the South China Morning Post, Apple’s contract manufacturer Foxconn is operating at its Zhengzhou plant in China for 24 hours to produce the new iPhone 12 series.
According to information obtained from employees, job advertisements and local media, Apple’s Zhengzhou Foxconn factory is said to be canceling workers’ holidays, introducing mandatory overtime, and providing additional bonuses for employees who work longer hours.
According to reports, the factory’s iPhone assembly department provided a bonus of 10,000 yuan to workers who entered the company after September 18, had been in the company for at least 90 days, and worked for at least 55 days. For those who joined the company after September 26, the bonus is 8,500 yuan.
Many employees have also been asked to cancel the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays this week to ensure the timely delivery of the new iPhones. According to reports, the first batch of iPhone 12 will be shipped to dealers on October 5. It is said that Apple The iPhone-centric launch event will be held on October 13.
Due to production delays caused by the global health crisis, the launch date of Apple’s new mobile phones was later than usual. But as in other years, Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant needs as many people as possible to assist in the mass production of the upcoming iPhone.
Naija Tech News understands that Apple is generally expected to announce four iPhone 12s, including a 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch models and a 6.7-inch model, all with OLED displays and 5G networks. It is expected that the more affordable 5.4 and 6.1-inch devices will ship ahead of the more expensive 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Pro devices, and these two devices are believed to be available in November.
