Google Commence YouTube Layoffs
According to an internal memo obtained by Tubefilter, Google’s YouTube department has now begun to make internal adjustments and there will be more layoffs planned in 2024 says by Google CEO Pichai.
YouTube Chief Business Officer Mary Ellen Coe announced in a memo that as part of the restructuring, the department will lay off about 100 people, but the laid-off employees will also have the opportunity to apply for other open positions within the department.
She mentioned in the memo that the move is to simplify the department structure in order to cope with the growing number of content creators on YouTube, while developing other features including AI content tools.

According to the report, YouTube will consolidate its content creator management team, retaining only one leader in each country and region, while the music team will also be consolidated globally, while the sports, media, film and TV teams It will also be consolidated into one organization, including projects such as YouTubeTV and NFL Sunday Ticket.
Referring to previous reports, Google has carried out a series of layoffs in the past few weeks, involving the equipment and service department (mainly the AR department), Google Assistant department and core engineering department. Yesterday, several layoffs were also carried out on the advertising sales team. Hundreds of employees are being laid off, and it’s unclear whether other Google departments are also preparing for layoffs.
