DrWindows reported that Google will extend the support end of Windows 7 Chrome browser by 6 months.
Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 in January this year, but there are still a large number of companies and home users who have not upgraded to Windows 10.
Google had planned to end Chrome browser support for Windows 7 on July 15, 2021. However, Google recognizes that 2020 is not a completely normal year, and some IT projects, such as the need to upgrade the network to Windows 10, may have taken the second place.
With the help of Kantar, Google found that 21% of enterprises are still in the process of migrating to Windows 10 .
After evaluating the current situation, based on feedback from Google’s distinguished corporate customers, Google has decided to extend Chrome browser support for Windows 7 at least until January 15, 2022. This is 6 months longer than the July 15, 2021 announced by them.
Naijatechnews is informed that through this extended support time, companies that are still upgrading can rest assured that they can continue to benefit from the security and productivity advantages of Chrome on Windows 7.
Microsoft previously set the end of support for the new Edge browser on Windows 7 on July 15, 2021, but Microsoft has not yet indicated that they will cooperate with Google’s extension.
Google hopes that this extension will provide corporate customers with the flexibility they need to continue to support their employees, while at the same time withdrawing from Windows 7 when circumstances permit. They stated that they will continue to evaluate the situation faced by corporate customers and communicate any additional changes in the future.
