How to data center travel in FFXIV?

Final Fantasy Fourteen comes up with a world visit system to enable you to transfer your in-game account to other servers. This way, you can engage with players from other regions of the world. The only limitation of this feature is that you can move to a server on the same data center until patch 6.18 is released in 2024.

With this update, you can now data center travel. This is different from a server travel system in many ways, so you need a proper guide to get it done correctly.

What is Data Center Travel in FFXIV?

The data center travel is a new feature of the existing home world transfer system, so players can temporarily join other servers which exist on the same data center and experience Final Fantasy XIV from a new perspective.

Earlier, it was impossible to switch between data centers. Now that the data center travel feature is available, you can even switch between data centers. While being on the new data, you can use FFXIV Gil and buy items from the market board.

How to use Data Center Travel in FFXIV?

You need a full-fledged guide to use the data center travel. Follow these steps and play on all the available servers, no matter which data center you created your account. After logging in to your Final Fantasy XIV account, go to the character screen.

If you have already started playing a game, log out and log in again to go to the character screen. Choose the desired character by tapping on the name. Find the option called “Visit another data center” from the character screen and click on it. Select the desired data center from the available options.

This process may take some time because it is a pretty big step. The game system will automatically add you to a queue and move your account to the new data center when your number comes. Carefully start the process, as there is no way to close it once it’s started.

You will receive a notification once the transfer process is completed. The last step is to manually use Aetheryte to move your FFXIV account to the desired server on the new data center.

Data Center Travel server restrictions

Although the data center traveling restrictions are removed in this update, there are still restrictions for players who want to transfer to a data center in a different region. For starters, you can only switch to data centers in the same region.

For example, if your account is in a North American data center, you can’t move it to a data center in Japan or Europe region. Developers have shared the good news that future updates will also feature the region transfer option as well, but for now, this is your only option. Here are all the server restrictions which apply to the latest 6.18 patch, as well as all the previous patches of Final Fantasy XIV.

No access to retainers
Can’t sell anything on the market board
Can’t access the Moogle delivery system
For a new free company or join an existing free company
Can’t enter the housing lottery to buy it
Can’t attend ceremonies of Eternal bonding
Can’t hold ceremonies of Eternal bonding
Can’t enter any tournaments like Lord of Vermillion or Triple Triad

How to transfer back to the home server?

Have you enjoyed your visit? Well, it is time to move back to the original server. To do so, you have to follow the same steps. Go to the main Aetheryte on the game map and select the “Visit Another world server” option. Find your home server and select it. Use the travel function, and that’s it.

World Server Transfer Errors

Switching between worlds isn’t as simple as it looks, and this is why various errors and issues were experienced by players when they tried to switch. This also resulted in long queues of players who wanted to switch servers, and they had to wait for hours.

Developers were also expecting these errors, and they fixed them as soon as players reported them. For now, there is no way to deal with these errors except by waiting for some time and trying again.

Data Center travel errors and fixes for FFXIV

Data center travel is more complex compared to the server travel option. This section features some common data center travel errors along with fixes. The first and most common error is that players receive a server transfer error which can be solved by logging out of the FFXIV account.

Suppose you experience an error stating that “Unable to request data center transfer,” sadly, there has been no fix for this error till now. You should try again with this option after waiting for some time. This error usually occurs due to the overloading of the server, all thanks to the extra traffic.

These servers and data centers can handle traffic to some extent, and afterward, they start showing errors and issues. Experts at MMOpixel start working as soon as you place your order and deliver your order in a short time.
