The creation of folders on PS4 is undoubtedly one of the functions most requested by users since the launch of the console, and now thanks to the latest update of the 4.0 system, all games and apps can be arranged in folders to make them more accessible from the main PS4 screen.
Next, we leave you with a few simple steps so you can learn how to create folders, manage their content and customize them:
Create a folder
To create your first folder, choose a game or app that you would like to add, press the Options button and select “Add to folder”.
By default, it will simply be called “Folder”, but of course you can be as creative as you like. You could name them by genre, developer, type of app you are going to add, or create a folder with your most played games.
Add content to your folders
Once you have added a name to your folder, you will see a field called ‘Content’. Choose the “Select” button and you will see a list of all your installed games and apps; put a check mark on what you want to add and press ‘Confirm’.
To add content to an existing folder, choose a game from your main screen or from your library, press the Options button, select “Add to folder” and select one of your existing folders from the list.
You can add up to 1000 games and apps to each folder, so even with a 1TB PS4 and a lot of gaming habit, it will take a long time to fill it up.
Create a folder from your library
On the right side of your home screen, you will find the Library icon. To create a new folder here, scroll down to the ‘Folders’ tab and go to ‘Create New’. As before, you can name it whatever you want.
Delete a folder
To delete a folder from your home screen or your library, simply navigate to it and select “Delete folder only” or “Delete folder and content.” Make sure you choose the correct option, as you don’t want to accidentally delete any games you have installed.
Browsing your library
There are a couple of new options in your PS4 Library:
The “All” tab will show all the games and applications currently installed on your PS4 (both digital downloads and games installed from a disc). Ready to play or sort into folders.
“Folders” shows every folder you’ve created and filled with content, all in one place. They will also appear on your home screen.
The “Purchased” tab shows everything that you have purchased and downloaded from the PlayStation Store (currently installed games and things that you have deleted and can reinstall whenever you want).
To search for content in your library, you’ll find a great magnifying glass symbol at the top of the page. You can also sort your content using the vertical and horizontal menus (alphabetically, by the most recently used games or by installation date).
