Promoted Pinterest Pins are regular Pins that you pay to be placed where people are most likely to see them. These Pins will surface in your desired audience’s home feed, category feeds, and relevant search results.

Promoted Pins are available to business accounts in:

  9. Ireland

  11. The Netherlands
  12. Norway

  14. Spain
  15. Sweden

  18. Australia
  19. New Zealand
  20. Cyprus
  21. Malta
  22. Luxembourg

Shopping ads are currently only available in some of the ad markets listed above. 

Set up Promoted Pins

You’ll need a business account to create Promoted Pins. The amount you pay will depend on the budget and spend limits that you set for your campaigns.

To begin running Promoted Pins, go to Ads Manager at ads.pinterest.com. The first time you access Ads Manager, you’ll be asked to select your country. This will determine your billing currency and you won’t be able to edit this later.

Promoted Pin requirements

Before promoting your Pins, make sure they meet these requirements:

  • Saved to your own business profile
  • Saved to public boards
  • Have destination URLs
  • Don’t have link shorteners in the destination URL or description
  • Aren’t third party videos or GIFs
  • Follow Pinterest Ad Standards

Pinterest recommend using a 2:3 aspect ratio, or 1000 x 1500 pixels. Pins that exceed a 2:4.2 width-height ratio will be truncated in people’s feeds. That means people will only see part of your Pin, rather than the whole thing
