Before explaining how to put GIFs on Instagram I must provide you with some preliminary information useful for the correct completion of this operation.
You must, in fact, know that Instagram allows you to upload GIFs in stories , through the specific native functionality of the app for Android (downloadable from the Play Store or from alternative stores ) and iOS (downloadable from the App Store ), which allows you to use them as stickers to be applied to photos and videos, after having chosen them from the appropriate archive which is integrated with the Giphy.com site , partner of the multimedia social network.
As for the posts , however, you should know that Instagram until some time ago allowed you to upload GIFs also in this section of your profile, but at the time of writing, it is no longer possible to do so: multimedia files with. gif are no longer supported.
Therefore, at the present time, to succeed, you have to implement an alternative solution: as I will explain in more detail in the chapter dedicated to the topic, you have to convert the GIF into a video , in order to transform the file. gif in a video .mp4 you can publish it in the post to Instagram , acting as a smartphone or PC .
Having said that, before proceeding, also make sure that you have updated the Instagram app to the latest version, to properly take advantage of all the features mentioned.

How to put GIFs in Instagram stories
After updating Instagram to the latest version available, you are ready to put GIFs in Stories .
Then start the social network app and, if necessary, log in to your account . At this point, swipe left on the main menu to launch the Instagram camera and start creating a story.
Then press the white circle symbol to take a photo, hold it down to film a video or press the gallery icon located at the bottom left to create a story using photos or videos already in your device’s memory.
Alternatively, if you want to create a textual story, tap the Aa button to use the Create tool , then choose the style and color of the font you prefer, clicking on the options available at the top (eg Bold , Modern , Neon etc.) and using the color selector at the bottom right, then type the text and press the Next button to confirm the insertion. Once this is done, to add one or more GIFs , press on the sticker symbol located at the top right to open the sticker menu that also serves to add a survey , a hashtag and much more, in addition to GIFs .
To add a GIF , press the entry of the same name: you will have access to the entire Giphy archive , one of the largest portals dedicated to animated images, which collects thousands of GIFs of all kinds. Once this is done, in the new screen that opens, use the text field Search on Giphy , to search and locate the GIF to be used among those proposed and tap it, to add it to your story.
You can also drag the added GIF to any part of the story and zoom in and out with your fingers to make it bigger or smaller. If the final result does not satisfy you and you want to delete the GIF , make a long tap on it and drag it to the trash icon at the bottom.
Finally, after completing the customization of the story , presses on the item Your Story at the bottom, to publish the multimedia content you created in the Instagram stories .
How to put GIF videos on Instagram
As anticipated in the introductory chapter of this tutorial, at the time of writing it is no longer possible to publish a GIF on Instagram in posts .
However, it is possible to “circumvent” this limitation by converting the GIF into video, through the use of a special service. To convert a GIF into a video using Android and iOS smartphones and tablets , connect to the CloudConvert site via the browser, to take advantage of this free online service, which allows you to convert multimedia files into numerous formats.
To use it, press the Select File button and select the GIF to convert from your device’s media gallery . Then, under Convert to , select the Video > MP4 export format , using the appropriate drop-down menu. Now, click the Convert button and wait for the automatic conversion to finish. Finally, hit the Download button to download the video.
At this point, on Android the video will be automatically saved in the memory of your device; on iOS / iPadOS , on the other hand, if for example you are using the Safari browser , proceed to save manually, by pressing the Aa key to go to the Download section of the browser.
Once this is done, locate the downloaded file, tap on it and then on the button with the share icon . Finally, click on the Save video button , to save it in the memory of your device.
After converting the GIF to video, start the Instagram app on your smartphone, log into your account (if necessary), press the + button and tap the Post item . Now, select the video from the media gallery of your device, press it twice in succession on the button Next and finally you tap on the item Share to post the video to post to Instagram .

PC
You can use the online tool made available by CloudConvert also from a PC , if you want to convert a GIF into a video from your computer , in order to publish it on Instagram using its official website or its application for Windows 10 and later versions.
Therefore, connected to the main page of CloudConvert , click on the Select File button and import the GIF from your computer. Now, through the Convert to drop-down menu , select the Video> MP4 items and press the Convert button . At the end of the conversion, press the Download button to save the video in the memory of your computer.
At this point, connected to Instagram and press the (+) button , in order to select the media file to upload ( Select from computer ). Now, press the button Next twice in a row, and when you’re ready to post the video in the post , hit the button Share .

In this regard, after creating your personalized GIF in the shape of a sticker with an app or with a program suitable for the purpose , connect to the official website of Giphy.com and register for free, first by pressing the Login button and then the Sign Up button .
