On the morning of September 22nd, today, iFixit, a well-known foreign disassembly station, disassembled the recently released Apple Watch Series 6. Although the new Series 6 is very similar in appearance to the 5th generation, the disassembly proves that it has undergone many internal adjustments and modifications, such as the addition of a blood oxygen sensor, and the battery is a little larger.
The new Apple Watch opens the inside by flipping the screen on the left like the iPhone. Since the Force Touch pressure sensitive screen has been removed, there is no corresponding gasket assembly, which makes it easier to disassemble and assemble the new Apple Watch. iFixit also found fewer cables, a simpler design, and easier maintenance .

In the 44mm version of Apple Watch Series 6, a 1.17Wh battery is used, which is 3.5% more than the battery used in the previous generation. The battery capacity of the 40mm model is 1.024Wh, an increase of 8.5% over the previous generation.
Apple Watch Series 6 has a larger Taptic Engine vibration module, the frame has been slightly modified, and uses a narrower edge connection. This adjustment and the cancellation of Force Touch also explain why this year’s watch can be made thinner (10.4 mm, last year was 10.74 mm).

Overall, iFixit was impressed by Apple’s ability to pack the new sensor, larger battery and larger Taptic Engine into a thinner case. They mentioned:
“They just keep polishing the product to make it look better and better, and they hardly tell you that there are more things inside. All their attention is focused on the health function.”

The 2020 new Apple Watch Series 6 finally received a 6-point repairable score, out of a maximum of 10, which is not low. Mainly due to the easier screen replacement and battery replacement, but still need to pay attention to the special three-point screws, and the relatively fragile cables installed directly on the S6 package chip.
