According to reports, this Indian-made hypersonic technology will pave the way for India to develop ultra-modern weapons (hypersonic missiles), the test machine can reach Mach 6 (6 times the speed of sound). As a result, India became the fourth country after the United States, Russia and China to successfully test low-altitude hypersonic technology, and thus obtained the qualification to join the “Hypersonic Missile Club”.
A senior official stated that India can develop a supersonic cruise missile driven by a supersonic combustion ramjet engine within about four years, with a speed of 7,408 kilometers per hour.
The report pointed out that the test was carried out by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of India. The demonstration aircraft was carried by an Agni missile and brought it to an altitude of 30 kilometers. The test lasted about 5 minutes in total.
Naijatechnews learned that India had conducted a related test in June 2019, but the results were not satisfactory.
