According to India’s plan to attract more than 10.5 trillion rupees (US$143 billion) of investment in the production of mobile phones in the country in the next five years, 16 companies have been approved to produce products in India, including Apple’s main iPhone assembly company. According to a statement on Tuesday, Apple’s main suppliers-Hon Hai Precision, Wistron, Pegatron, and Samsung Electronics, are on the list of global companies approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India.
The statement stated that it is expected to export about 60% of the total output in the next five years, or 6.5 trillion rupees.
India is trying to use its production-related incentive program to attract the world’s largest smartphone brands to produce mobile phones in India and supply them globally.
Local Indian manufacturers Lava, Padget Electronics Pvt., UTL Neolyncs and Optiemus Electronics Ltd. have also been approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India.
