Taiwanese chip manufacturer, MediaTek has launched the Kompanio 1300T processor. It is the latest chipset designed by the company for computing devices. As the direct successor of Kompanio 820, the new chipset is mainly for tablets and Chromebooks. The MediaTek Kompanio 1300T uses TSMC’s 6-nanometer process. It has an octa-core CPU configuration composed of ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores and ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. The chip also integrates an ARM Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The latter has nine high-performance cores, but their clock speed is unknown.

The Kompanio 1300T also comes with MediaTek’s AI processing unit (APU), which can provide powerful performance support for various AI use cases, including AI voice assistant and ultra-low power voice wake-up (VoW) function.

As for displays, the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T supports 2.5K (2560 x 1440) resolution screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The chip can power up to two external displays with Full HD resolution and also supports HDR10+ playback. It is capable of providing further enhancements through MediaTek’s MiraVision display technology. The latter allows OEMs to filter blue light, enhance picture quality, adjust resolution and frame rate, and more.

In terms of imaging, the chipset can power multi-cameras with up to 108MP sensors. It also supports 4K 60fps video encoding and decoding, interlaced 4K HDR video recording, multi-depth smart focus, and AI -Clear Streaming to enhance photography and live broadcast performance. For games, MediaTek’s HyperEngine 3.0 provides a large number of enhancements to improve network performance, enhance color fidelity, increase touch response speed, and so on.

The chipset also supports 5G networks. It supports all 5G frequency bands below 6GHz, 2CC carrier aggregation (2CC CA), dual-SIM 5G, and 5G elevator mode and 5G HSR mode enhancements. As for other connectivity options, it supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 And 5G UltraSave power saving mode. The latter can automatically optimize power consumption according to network quality.

First Products With Kompanio 1300T

MediaTek said that new tablets and Chromebooks using the Kompanio 1300T ought to arrive in the third quarter of 2021.

In this regard, recently, reports initially stated that the upcoming Honor Tablet V7 Pro will carry this chip onboard but was later refuted by the Chinese company. Though there is still possibility to see the V7 Pro with our protagonist.

By the way, in June this year, MediaTek launched the MediaTek Kompanio series of platforms. MediaTek said that the Kompanio series platform has a highly integrated SoC design and cutting-edge technology to improve energy efficiency. They can help personal computing devices to achieve all-weather long battery life while the screen is opened, flipped, folded, and even separated.
