NTN August 8 news According to windowslatest, an independent developer released the open source Chromium browser on the Microsoft Store last Friday. This browser was informally ported to the Windows Store by a publisher named “Store Ports”.
The open source Chromium is based on the Blink rendering engine, which is also the core of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. The engine also provides support for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Google or the open source community are unlikely to bring Chromium to the Windows Store for many reasons, but the main reason may be related to Microsoft’s restrictions on the Store.
According to the Microsoft Store policy, browsers in the Store must use Microsoft’s HTML and JavaScript engines .
Unexpectedly, after successfully converting the browser using Desktop Bridge, independent developers released the open source Chromium browser to the Microsoft Store.
However, Microsoft did not keep the program for too long, and removed it a few hours after users marked the application.
Naijatechnews (NTN) learned that Microsoft said in a statement that the App violated its storage policy. A Microsoft spokesperson said: ” The submitted file currently does not comply with our Windows Store policy and will be deleted.”
In theory, Google and Mozilla can also use these tools to convert the desktop version of their Chrome browser into an application package, and then submit the browser to the store. However, Microsoft will refuse to submit for violation of store policy.
In 2017, Google released the Chrome installer on the Microsoft Store, but the installer failed to comply with the browser requirements of the Microsoft Store and was later removed from the Windows market.
