Microsoft: the upcoming “single-package design” of Windows 10 update

According to Windowslatest, Microsoft has simplified and enhanced the Windows Update process by combining the service stack and cumulative updates into a single package. It is expected that this move will make the Windows 10 patch more reliable, at least for some users or users who skip the update. Microsoft has now shared more information about this new “single package” design, which can fix Windows 10 patches.

Naijatechnews understands that when users use Windows Update, the service stack and Windows 10 monthly updates are usually installed together. In some cases, if a specific version of SSU is missing, users will not be able to automatically install the latest cumulative update. For example, if the device does not have the necessary SSU installed, the user’s cumulative update will not be installed and an error will be reported.

Check for updates

This usually happens when the user manually updates the device using the Microsoft Update Catalog and skips the maintenance stack update. Similarly, IT administrators who manage devices need to select and deploy service stack updates with the latest cumulative updates to ensure a seamless update experience.

To solve the problem of Windows Update, Microsoft introduced a “single package design” for Windows Update, which will provide a more seamless experience for users who manually manage monthly updates .

Microsoft said: Our upcoming changes will ensure that SSU and LCU are provided to Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Microsoft Catalog together under a single load.

If the user uses Windows Update, Configuration Manager, Microsoft Update Catalog or any tool supported by WSUS, Microsoft will automatically apply service stack updates, and Windows Updates installation will not often fail.

Microsoft said that consumers or businesses using any production version of Windows 10 will not be able to apply these changes immediately.

It is also worth noting that a single design package requires the device to run the September 2020 update or later. If users do not install the September patch, users will not be able to benefit from this single update package design in the future.
