A US judge ruled that Oracle had lost an appeal on how the Pentagon handled its JEDI (Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure) cloud contract.
Microsoft previously won the contract worth about $10 billion, which is considered a major victory for the company because it continues to challenge Amazon’s dominance in the cloud market. Subsequently, Amazon immediately questioned the result, but the company’s appeal has not yet been decided. But what is less known is that Oracle also questioned the way the Pentagon handled the contract, saying it unfairly favored Amazon and Microsoft, which were early leading candidates.
In the end, a jury composed of three judges ruled that, “Although Oracle filed a wide-ranging lawsuit, we found no irreversible error.”
This judgment is a victory for Microsoft and may be used as a reference for Amazon’s appeal.
