Xiaomi has a good reputation in terms of releasing major and minor updates to its phones. The seeding of its MIUI 12 updates to its smartphones started since the official announcement in April and it’s still on. However, the Redmi Note 8 from last year only began to receive the update along with Android 10 in late September in China. Now, a similar build is finally live for the global variant of the smartphone.
In case you are not aware, the Redmi Note 8 international version comes three types of builds and they are Global, India, and Indonesia respectively. However, the update is currently only available for the Global variant.
That means Redmi Note 8 users outside India and Indonesia can update their phone to MIUI 12 from the Settings app. Whereas, the customers in the two excluded countries will have to wait for more as even a single stable beta build is yet to go live for those regions.
That said, the MIUI 12 stable update for Redmi Note 8 global variant comes with build number V12.0.1.0.QCOMIXM. As mentioned in the beginning, this release also brings the long-awaited Android 10 upgrade as well.
Anyway, although Xiaomi has confirmed that they have rolled out the update to all the units out there, it may take time in certain cases. Hence, do not worry if you haven’t received the update yet.
