Subsequently, Naira Marley was arrested by Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, May 10th, 2019, a date which coincidentally falls on his birthday. He was arrested alongside other music colleges, Rahman Jago, Zlatan Ibile, and two others.
While the four people (Rahman Jago, Zlatan Ibile, and two others) were released, Naira Marley was remanded in EFCC custody and was charged to court with an eleven-count fraud allegation.
According to the EFCC, Naira Marley was found with implicating materials. Soon after, Naira Marley was granted bail of ₦2 million and released from prison on Friday, June 14th, 2019 by a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
