SoftBank Group (SoftBank) said on Monday that it has agreed to sell chip design company ARM to Nvidia for a price of up to 40 billion U.S. dollars. This transaction will reshape the pattern of the semiconductor field.
Naijatechnews is informed that in this sale, chip company Nvidia will acquire all of ARM’s shares in cash and stock, so that SoftBank and the US$100 billion Vision Fund will hold 6.7% to 8.1% of Nvidia’s shares.
The sale is nearly four years after the Japanese conglomerate acquired ARM, a British chip technology company, for US$32 billion, and it was also a period when SoftBank reduced its holdings of major assets.
