OnePlus has finally released the OnePlus 11 as a successor to the OnePlus 10T. To be honest, the OnePlus 11 is a thing of beauty. The build quality, the design as well as the camera arrangements. The OnePlus 11 is really an attractive phone to look at.
Of course, the OnePlus 11 is a flagship smartphone, even though there is a more premium version which is the OnePlus 11 Pro. There is no denying that the OnePlus 11 screams premium all over. Last year saw the release of the OnePlus 10 Pro without the standard edition as expected. Instead, the OnePlus 10T was released which came with enough specs to be a great substitute to the 1+ 10.
Today, 4th of January 2023, the Chinese tech firm has launched the OnePlus 11 which comes with really tempting specifications. If you own any of the previous model, you may either want to upgrade to this one or rather wait for the Pro model. The pro model is however tipped to launched in March this year.
Which Should You Buy, OnePlus 11 or OnePlus 10T?
If you are a new user of OnePlus, it will be a very good idea to go in for the OnePlus 11 or better still go in for last year’s 10 Pro. Also, users of the OnePlus 10 Pro should not even think about replacing it with the OnePlus 11. This will be a massive downgrade as the 10 Pro still has a lot of better specs than this new model.
This comparison is mainly between the OnePlus 10T and the 11 which was launched today. This is because both phones have quite a lot in common even though the OnePlus 11 has a slight edge over the 10T. But is it really worth the upgrade?
It all comes down to specifications and real-world performances of both phones. In taking such a decision, you cannot also afford to overlook prices as this plays an important role in purchasing decisions.
The only way we can firmly stand on whether it is worth the upgrade or not is to compare both devices based on their specs. So, we will compare chipsets, battery, screen, camera and of course prices of both phones.
The OnePlus 10T features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset while the 1+ 11 features the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Both chipsets are based on the 4nm technology. The two chipsets have quite a lot in common with the main difference being the CPU speed.
Both feature octa-core Cortex CPUs with the SD 8 Gen2 featuring a slightly improved speed over the SD 8+ Geb1. Both feature Cortex-X3, Cortex-A715, Cortex-A710 and Cortex-A510. In terms of GPU the OnePlus 11 features Adreno 740 while we have Adreno 730 in the 10T.
In the Battery department, the OnePlus 11 comes with a slightly larger battery of 5,000mAh whereas its direct competitor features a 4,800mAh battery. Both devices also feature top speed charging capacities.
With the OnePlus 11, you get a 100W SuperFast charging. As advertised, this can charge from 1 to 100% within 25 minutes. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 10T comes with a massive 150 W charging speed. This power is just enough to fill the whole battery with 18 minutes.
On the front side, things look a bit different especially when we compare the selfie camera positioning. The 1+ 11 has a front camera at the extreme top-left corner of the screen while the 10T has the selfie camera right in the top-center of the display.
Both devices also feature a 120Hz AMOLED displays. Both screens are also 6.7-inch in measurements. The OnePlus 11 however has a higher screen-to-body ratio here. This is due to the fact that it has a slightly curved screen as compared to the flat display on the 10T. It registers a screen to body ratio of 89.7% as compared to the 87.9 on the 10T.
Screen resolution also favors the 1+ 11 here with 1440 x 3216 pixels and 525ppi Pixel density. The 10T on the other hand comes with 1080 x 2412 pixels and a 394ppi Pixel density.
In this category, the comparison is not even worth it as the OnePlus 11 has a clear advantage here. The 1+ 11 features a triple camera setup just like the 10T. Both devices also use the same 50MP main sensor. However, the ultra wide lens on the 1+ 11 is a 48MP sensor while the 10T only features an 8MP ultrawide lens.
The OnePlus 11 also comes with a 32MP Telephoto lens with a zooming capability of 2x optical zoom. The 10T on the other hand lacks a Telephoto lens completely. It however comes with a 2MP Macro lens which the 11 also lacks. So the zoom lens steps in when it comes to Macro shots.
The OnePlus 11 also comes with a the Hasselblad color calibration technology on top. When it comes to video performances, you are getting a maximum of 8K/24fps on the 1+ 11 while the 10T is only limited to 4K/30fps.
As it stands now, both phones come with similar prices. With the OnePlus 11, it currently sells at a price of €550 while the OnePlus 10T also sells for around €549.
As you can see, the OnePlus 11 is a step ahead of the OnePlus 10T in almost all categories. The 11 comes with a lot of great specs which should just be enough to compete with any other flagship out there. One thing I didn’t mention is the memory configurations. Over here, the 1+ 11 starts with 256/12GB of RAM while the 10T also starts with 128/8GB of RAM.
There is no denying that it is truly a worthy upgrade if you are using the 10T. Or, if you are confused about which of the two to go for, I am sure you are fully convinced now.
The real question is, should you buy this model or wait for the OnePlus 11 Pro? If you ask me this question, I will suggest you go for this vanilla edition. It has everything that qualifies it to be a very good flagship device. One downside is that, it lacks wireless charging. Which a lot of people don’t really mind. Besides, the price is also good for these specs.
