Porsche’s second electric car is postponed to 2021
Taycan is selling very well, no rush to launch new cars
If you want to buy Porsche’s second electric car after Taycan, you have to wait a while. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume told the media that the launch of Taycan Cross Turismo has been postponed from the end of 2020 to sometime in early 2021 .
Oliver said that this is not because the auto market has been hit by the new crown virus, but the company has “optimized” the time to market for its products. The sales of ordinary Taycans are good, so they are not in a hurry to sell new products with more spacious space.
The basic name Taycan Cross Turismo with Taycan same, but it is more like the Tesla Model X crossover vehicle and so on . When Porsche released the Mission E Cross Turismo concept car, it claimed that the car will reach 96KM/h in 3.5 seconds.
Despite the new crown virus, Porsche is still expected to achieve profitability in 2020, thanks to both Taycan and the recovery of the Chinese auto market.
For now, Taycan Cross Turismo should play a key role in Porsche’s transformation. Together with the upcoming Macan EV, it will bring electric Porsche to more mainstream audiences. IT Home understands that Porsche predicts that 40% of its cars will be fully electrified by 2025. The postponement of the Taycan Cross Turismo shows that Porsche is confident of achieving this goal without rushing to launch new models.
