Samsung Exynos 1000/Snapdragon 875 will use ARM X1 super core
According to a report from the foreign media Gsmarena, the two upcoming flagship mobile chips of Samsung Exynos 1000 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 will be equipped with ARM’s X1 super core. The first batch of devices equipped with X1 core is Samsung Galaxy S21 series.
Naijatechnews has reported that in May this year, Arm launched Cortex-A78 and Cortex-X1 CPU cores, among which Cortex-A78 is an iterative product of the Cortex-A series, and Cortex-X1 is a new high-performance CPU.
In terms of performance, Cortex-X1 will be 30% higher than Cortex-A77. Compared with Cortex-A78, Cortex-X1’s integer arithmetic performance is improved by 23%. Cortex-X1 also has twice the machine learning capabilities of Cortex-A78. The core of Cortex-X1 is much larger than that of A77 and A78. The maximum capacity of L2 cache is 1MB, and the bandwidth is twice the original, which can maximize performance, while the shared L3 cache can reach 8MB, which is the previous generation of cache Twice.
It seems unlikely that the SoC of a smartphone will use a four Cortex-X1 cluster. A single Cortex-X1 and three Cortex-A78 plus four small cores would be a good choice.
