According to people familiar with the matter, SpaceX is about to complete a new round of $2 billion in financing. Due to strong demand, the company has previously expanded the scale of this round of financing.
People familiar with the matter said that the existing investor Fidelity Investment is one of the largest participants in this round of financing .
A SpaceX spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and a Fuda Investment spokesperson declined to comment.
Previously, SpaceX had been discussing financing of $1 billion at a price of $270 per share . Excluding new funds, based on this price, SpaceX is valued at approximately $44 billion.
Once the transaction is completed, the company’s equity value will reach 46 billion US dollars, including 2 billion US dollars in new funds. This will make SpaceX one of the most valuable venture capital companies in the United States. SpaceX’s previous investors include Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, Alphabet, Baillie Gifford, and Valor Equity Partners.
According to PitchBook data, this round of oversubscription of $2 billion in financing will be the largest financing in SpaceX’s history, and it coincides with SpaceX just completing its most compelling task. This month, SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft returned safely to Earth. This is also the first time an American astronaut has taken a US spacecraft to the International Space Station since the termination of the space shuttle program in 2011.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has always been an important partner and customer of SpaceX. NASA recently stated that it might perform the first complete space mission together with SpaceX on October 23.
