Nintendo Switch 2 may equip Samsung 5th gen V-NAND

Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be equipped with Samsung 5th gen V-NAND. It’s going to be a notable upgrade over the original Nintendo Switch, with 1.4 GB/s speeds expected to be delivered.

According to Doctre81 (via wccftech), Nintendo Switch 2 would use Samsung 5th gen V-NAND. While Samsung is working on the 9th and 10th-gen V-NAND, the 5th-gen chip sounds outdated, but the actual results will be satisfactory.

Nintendo appears to be bringing a significant upgrade to its next gaming console. Samsung’s new memory chip is expected to offer up to 1.4 GB/s speeds, which should be more than enough for the Switch 2 console.

Way back in 2018, Samsung launched the fifth-generation V-NAND. It offers a faster data write speed at 500 microseconds (μs), which represents about a 30-percent improvement over the write speed of its predecessor.

Recent reports suggest Nintendo is targeting March 2025 for the Switch 2 launch.
