On April 15, Samsung revealed Galaxy S24 flagships use recycled plastics as it moves to “innovate high-performance components that are made with recycled materials.” The company has set a goal to recover nearly 100 tons of recycled plastics with the S24 series this year.

In the production of the Galaxy S24 series, the Korean tech giant has used a new plastic material by recycling thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) leftover from shoe manufacturing processes.

Samsung also aims to help recover about 110 tons of recycled aluminum, which is equivalent to about 9 million soda cans, into the Galaxy S24 series this year. It’s also worth noting that the S24 series is the first Samsung product that has recycled minerals such as recycled cobalt in key components.

“With the Galaxy S24 series, our goal by the end of 2024 is to help recover nearly 100 metric tons of recycled plastics, which is equivalent to 10 million empty plastic bottles,” Samsung said, celebrating Earth Day on April 22.
