The L7 which all came to take over from wasn’t the worst of phones, but it just wasn’t a serious piece that Tecno could put in competition against phones from Infinix, Gionee, and other crazy companies.
The thing though is that although the Tecno L8 Lite took over from the L8 and L8 plus, it is a little down from the others considering that it came in as a lighter version. That being said, it also came in cheaper.
For a better perspective, let’s get down to the review:
Build and quality
The Tecno L8 Lite doesn’t come as the most beautiful phone in the market. You won’t be wrong if you describe it as having a rather regular look. Still, when it comes to the build, there is nothing regular about its almost premium build.
In size, the Lite does not come as large as its previous brothers. While the smaller version in the line, the phone is very comfortable to hold and it is not heavy.
The body of the phone has a plastic cover which is unique with a removable battery and camera that comes at the top side of the phone.
Although a mid-entry phone, it has a 5.0 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display which has up to 16 million colours and a resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels. This means that although you do not get the heaven and earth viewing angles, you still get one that is good.
The phone’s buttons are well placed and easily accessible on the sides.
The smartphone is made ready to handle two sims and has an internet connectivity that begins with GPRS/EDGE to 3.75 G.
Sound Quality
Right now, most phones do not seek to give you the extremely loud volumes that used to comes with some 4 sim phones that were created by Chinese companies with phony names. All they are after is getting the audio at a decent volume, and get you the best of sound quality it can give. That is the same thing with the Tecno L8.
But more than most others, the quality is stressed probably because of the unspoken generous multimedia functionality it has.
Whether you are using the phone speaker or an earpiece, the sound quality doesn’t disappoint.
Battery life
What beats for me with this phone is definitely the battery life. Even when you find phones such as the Tecno Phantom 5 and others that are obviously bigger running at 3030 mAh, the Tecno L8 has a battery that has a generous 4000 mAh capacity.
What this means is that with this battery, you can have a run time of up to 8 hours of talk time and over 200 hours of standby time. For a heavy user, you may not record these times.
Although it is quite good, it is much lower than what you get with its bigger and older L8 and L8 Plus brothers that have as much as 5500mAh.
Camera
No, the camera is not one of the things that the Tecno L8 can brag with since it is mostly like many others in the market. It comes with both front and back cameras.
While the back camera comes with 8MP, the front camera has 2MP. That, however, is where it comes the same with other since it has an autofocus just as it has HDR capability. With the HDR, you can easily get pictures taken even when the light is too bright or too low and still have a great picture.
Still, with the camera, there is LED flash that comes just as you get with most others. Also, it comes with AutoFocus for the best picture snapping.
In total, you can count on the picture quality better than you can count on most others whether you are having a selfie or not.
Storage and memory
16GB internal space is what this phone comes with for all your files. If you want to have it expanded, there is a MicroSD card that takes as large as 128GB.
This is one of the things that makes the phone much of a multimedia phone since it has enough space to have all your mobile videos, music, pictures, and other multimedia files.
For the memory, what you get with this massive phone is a 1GB RAM. I must confess that I expected something way better than what Tecno is giving here. In the least, I had my eyes set on seeing the phone with a minimum of 2GB RAM.
Nevertheless, I think unless you want to have the entire world on your phone, the memory should be able to get you decently going by.
Processor and Software
Tecno L8 Lite has an Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. On the other side, the processor you get with the phone is 1.3GHz Quad-Core. When you bring all these together, there is no reason that you shouldn’t get the best of a mid-range phone performance.

Verdict
If you are someone who finds it very hard to drop your phone, this is what you should go for. In fact, if you are not a heavy phone user, you may not even need a power bank with this phone. The good news is that the battery life is not all that the phone has to offer since it is also cheap and it could just be the best you can get for multimedia.

Also, if you are looking to buy the L8 but because of the price or because it is too large you are caught on the streets, this is a nice alternative that comes cheaper and smaller.

In the mid-range line of phones, it will be very hard for you to find a phone that beats this when you consider the features it comes with and the asking price.
