In the midday news on September 2nd, recently, the G5517 Changyi Section of Changyi North Line of Chang-Chang North Line, the first domestic expressway supported by Baidu Apollo to support high-level autonomous driving vehicle road coordination, was officially opened to traffic. This smart highway section covers typical highway scenes such as trunk lines, interconnections, tunnels, bridges, and service areas. The roadside and cloud platform system adopts Baidu Apollo’s vehicle-road collaboration solution.
The project is part of the high-speed section of the “Double One Hundred” project (100 kilometers of smart highway and 100 kilometers of urban smart open roads) in Hunan Xiangjiang New District. The road section covers Changyi Double Line, the southwest section of the Ring Expressway, and the northwest section of the Ring Expressway. 93 kilometers. After the Changyi double-line expressway is opened to traffic, it will be combined with Meixi Lake/Yanghu urban roads and the West Second Ring Urban Expressway to form a high-level autonomous driving vehicle road collaborative test section in Changsha.
It is understood that in this high-speed section, relying on the roadside advanced automatic driving-oriented full-awareness and powerful cloud platform processing capabilities, and the use of C-V2X and 5G communication capabilities, Changyi Double-Line Expressway can support L4 level autonomous driving .
The vehicle-road collaborative data interaction standard for this section implements the “High-level Autonomous Driving Data Interactive Content for Vehicle-Road Collaboration” jointly promoted by Baidu and Xiangjiang Intelligent and other units, which can provide openness for all car companies to conduct autonomous driving tests. Technical conditions. Before the official opening to traffic, Baidu Apollo had completed the L4 Robotaxi vehicle-road coordinated joint debugging under high-speed conditions on this section.
In addition, relying on roadside advanced lane-level event detection capabilities and powerful cloud platform processing capabilities, through C-V2X, 4G, 5G and other communication technologies, Changyi Double-Line Expressway also provides a wealth of networked applications and scenarios.
It is reported that Baidu Apollo and Ford’s sixth-generation Explorer and other models have become the first mass-produced models to support the V2X in-vehicle application of the Changyi Double-Line Smart Expressway; the vehicle-road collaboration equipment on this section of the road is also equipped with the manufacturer’s after-mounted intelligent terminal Get through the application.
