Naijatechnews House August 8 news from German media iFun.de reported that the new 27-inch iMac flash memory was soldered to the motherboard. There is more information obtained by foreign media in an internal document of Apple technicians.
Apple confirmed in the file that the flash memory of the iMac is indeed fixed on the motherboard and cannot be removed . However, in the 4TB and 8TB configurations of the iMac, there is a flash expansion board on the motherboard that connects to the motherboard through a special connector, while these expansion boards and connectors do not exist in the 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB configurations of the iMac.
Apple added that the flash memory and the motherboard are connected together for hardware encryption, so if the motherboard is replaced, data will be lost. Therefore, Apple recommends that customers regularly back up their files.
