It also features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, higher-fidelity speakers, and a studio-quality microphone, making it the most powerful and best-performing iMac ever. For everyday consumers who use iMac all day, ambitious and inspired creatives, and professional users who are pushing the boundaries of creativity. The new 27-inch iMac delivers an enhanced desktop experience in every way.
Up to 10-core processors and more memory options.

Next-generation AMD graphics processors.
The 27-inch iMac features the next generation of more powerful AMD graphics processors for running GPU-based rendering, editing multiple 4K video streams, or playing highly GPU-intensive games. iMac is powered by the Radeon Pro 5000 series of graphics processors, which features AMD’s latest RDNA architecture. And faster, more energy-efficient computing units deliver up to 55 percent more graphics performance. For the first time, iMac is available with an optional graphics processor that features 16GB of graphics memory – twice as much as the previous 27-inch iMac – for professional app users who need more performance with more graphics memory.
Compared to the previous 27-inch iMac with Radeon Pro Vega 48 graphics, the new iMac:

Solid-state drives and the Apple T2 security chip are included.
The 27-inch iMac now comes standard with a solid-state drive that delivers up to 3.4GB/s of high-speed performance for launching applications and opening large files. For the first time, iMac also offers an 8TB solid-state drive option for users who need massive amounts of storage, with up to four times the capacity of the previous 27-inch iMac.
iMac includes the Apple T2 Secure chip, Apple’s second generation of custom chips. The storage controller in the T2 Secure chip provides instant data encryption of everything stored on the solid-state drive to keep files and data safe. The T2 chip also verifies that software loaded during the boot process has not been tampered with, providing the best possible performance for the 27-inch iMac and other iMacs. Macs with the T2 chip offer more secure data storage and startup.
Retina 5K display with True tone and Nano-Texture Option
The Retina display on the iMac gives you an immersive viewing experience with 14.7 million pixels, 1 billion colors, 500 nits of brightness, and support for the wide P3 color gamut. This high pixel count produces super-sharp text that feels like you’re reading on a printed page, sharper, more detailed photos and support for 4K video editing at full resolution. 27-inch iMac’s gorgeous 5K Retina display now includes a native-color display that automatically adjusts the display’s color temperature based on the ambient light around you.
The new iMac is available with an optional Nano-texture nano-textured glass panel, which debuted on Pro Display XDR, to provide a better viewing experience in different lighting conditions, including bright rooms and indirect sunlight. Unlike ordinary matte textured glass, which is coated to diffuse light, this industry-leading option uses an innovative process to etch nano-texture onto the glass using nanoscale technology that dramatically reduces reflectivity and glare while maintaining excellent image quality and contrast for a more brilliant 5K retina display.
High-quality camera, high-fidelity speakers, and studio-quality microphone.
For users who are increasingly using their iMacs to communicate with friends, family, and colleagues, the FaceTime HD camera now supports 1080p resolution, while the T2 security chip’s image signal processor delivers tone mapping, exposure control and facial recognition for a higher quality recording experience. Work together for variable EQ for better sound balance, higher fidelity, and deeper bass. Plus, a new studio-quality microphone array records high-quality audio, so you can have better FaceTime calls, podcast recordings, voice memos, and more with just one iMac.

Apple also announced today that for the first time, the entire 21.5-inch iMac line will come standard with a solid-state drive. Customers will also be able to select a Fusion drive for their 21.5-inch iMac.
The iMac Pro now comes standard with 10-core Intel Xeon processors. iMac Pro is designed for professional users who demand workstation-class performance, so you can choose up to 18-core Xeon processors with up to 22 trillion floating-point operations per second of graphics performance and up to 256GB of 4-channel graphics performance. iMac Pro is also available with an optional 256GB 4-channel hard drive.
