TikTok Europe has over 100 million monthly active users
On September 14, local time, Rich Waterworth, general manager of TikTok’s European business under ByteDance, revealed that the current number of TikTok European monthly active users has exceeded 100 million. To better serve the local market, TikTok Will continue to expand the team size and expand team functions in Europe.
TikTok is a video social product launched by Bytedance in 2017 for the global market. As of June this year, TikTok has been downloaded more than 2 billion times worldwide, and its business covers more than 200 countries and regions around the world.
Public data shows that TikTok has been downloaded more than 165 million times in the United States and has more than 91 million monthly active users. In other words, in the two important markets of the United States and Europe, TikTok has over 100 million active users.
Rich Waterworth introduced that TikTok will continue to expand the European team. At present, TikTok has more than 1,600 employees in Europe. Among them, there are about 1,300 employees in the UK and Ireland alone. Their responsibilities include brands, creator communities, commercialization, music, products, privacy, policy, and security.
Thanks to the localization development strategy, a large number of high-quality European content creators have emerged on TikTok. In order to promote the development of the European content ecosystem, TikTok launched the European Creators Fund earlier this month and plans to provide 250 million euros in the next three years to help professionalize TikTok content creators. Currently, more than 40% of TikTok European creators have joined the program.
In 2022, TikTok will establish a data center in Ireland to store European user data. Rich Waterworth said the TikTok European Data Center will create hundreds of jobs in Europe. At present, TikTok has established a European data privacy team in Ireland, and established a trust and security center for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA) in Dublin.
