Mobile data and analytics company App Annie revealed that TikTok defeated three Facebook apps and topped the list of global app downloads from January to the end of November this year, despite the so-called “security concerns” in the United States.
The analysis company said in a report that TikTok has climbed 3 places compared to the same period in 2019, and it is expected that the service will reach 1 billion monthly active users in 2021.
App Annie explains that TikTok has won favor by “blurring” the lines between social and streaming apps .
From a global perspective, by the end of 2020, the number of app downloads on iOS and Google Play is expected to increase from 120 billion in 2019 to 130 billion. The company believes that this is largely due to increased demand for digital products during the epidemic.
Overall spending is expected to increase by 25% year-on-year to US$112 billion, a significant increase from the 15% annual growth rate recorded in 2019.
Lexi Sydow, App Annie’s senior insight manager, predicts that in 2021, the market will “see continued growth in home mobile services,” especially as local governments respond to the epidemic before “effective vaccines” are available.
