According to foreign media reports, the US ride-hailing giant Uber is seeking to sell some of its US$6.3 billion equity in Didi Chuxing to boost its share price.
According to reports, Uber is negotiating with Didi and SoftBank Group on the sale of shares, and SoftBank is the major shareholder of the two companies. The three parties have discussed a number of plans, including SoftBank’s cooperation with other investors to acquire a small portion of Uber’s 15% stake.
However, some investors said that Uber needs Didi’s approval to sell its shares in Didi, and Didi is unlikely to buy shares on its own.
So far, Didi and Uber have not yet commented on this matter.
