Picking the right Android game can be quite a challenge, especially when you consider just how regularly games get released these days. From AAA titles to live casino games, there are hundreds of games to choose from. For this reason, we’ve put together seven of the latest games in the list below.

 1. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Fans of the Castlevania series will be glad to know that the best game in the franchise is now available for Android devices. For those who are unfamiliar with this long-standing series, Castlevania – Symphony of the Night is an action-based exploration game with RPG elements. It’s a sequel to Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, which was first released way back in 1993.

The original Symphony of the Night was released in 1997. It quickly gained a cult following thanks to its innovative gameplay, atmospheric soundtrack, and artistic vision. It’s also considered a pioneer of the Metroidvania genre, with many critics often citing it as one of the best video games of all time.

 2. Civilization VI

Civilization VI is a port of the turn-based 4X strategy game released for PC in 2016. Published by Aspyr Media, the Android version was released in 2020, making it one of the older games to feature on our list. We’ve included it due to the fact that – in terms of scale, variety, and replayability – there’s simply no other strategy game that offers as much depth as Civilization VI.

Your goal is to expand, explore, exploit, and exterminate (hence the 4X genre). You can play as a variety of fledgling nations, all with recognizable leaders and cultural differences. Each race has its own strengths and weaknesses, which you’ll have to take advantage of if you want your civilization to survive until the end of the game.

Survival is no easy task, but you’ll be given all the tools you need to survive, including an unlockable tech tree, military power, and diplomacy measures.

 3. Chrono Trigger

One of the most classic RPGs ever made, Chrono Trigger is a grand adventure filled with an incredibly touching story, interesting time manipulation mechanics, and extremely likable protagonists. The Android version has updated graphics and a higher resolution, as well as a fully remastered soundtrack composed by none other than Yasunori Mitsuda.

Chrono Trigger features an interesting mix of turn-based combat and action combat. Players take on the role of Crono, a young hero who finds himself on an adventure through time, chasing after a girl who is lost in another dimension. As formulaic as the plot may sound, give the game a go and you’ll be amazed at how creative the story can get.

 4. FF VII The First Soldier

Whoever came up with the idea for a Final Fantasy battle royale must’ve had a stroke of genius. Not only is FF VII The First Soldier a surprisingly competent competitive action game, but it’s also nailed all the fantasy elements that the Final Fantasy series is so well-known for.

Set 30 years prior to the events of Final Fantasy VII, The First Soldier is less focused on story compared to most other Final Fantasy titles. Competitive gameplay is the star here, with up to 75 players at once duking it out in a large arena.

Players can melee, use ranged weapons, and perform a variety of spells. It’s a fresh take on the battle royale genre which is entirely worth your time and money, especially if you enjoy battle royale games.

 5. GRID Autosport

A stunning racing game packed full of features, GRID Autosport is all any motoring fan needs for some high-octane gaming. There are over 100 cars to choose from, each separated into tiers and classes of varying strength. With several game modes on offer, including a lengthy Career Mode, GRID Autosport certainly has a lot to offer.

The tracks are all based on real-world locations, with over 25 tracks available in over 100 different configurations. Having been released in 2019, GRID Autosport is the oldest game we’ve showcased. However, thanks to consistent updates by its developers, as well as regular DLC content, it remains the most highly-rated racing game available for Android.

 6. Pokemon Unite

Pokemon Unite is a 5-on-5 strategic team battle game, the first of its kind to be set in the Pokemon universe. Aside from Pokemon Go, not many Pokemon games have deviated from the formula set by older games in the series, which makes this 2021 release truly unique from a creative perspective.

Join your friends and other online players as you team up to take down the opposing team. Players take on the roles of Trainers from all over the world, with plenty of customization options to set your character apart from other avatars. All of your favorite Pokemon are here, including old favorites like Pikacu, Charizard, and Onix.

 7. Wordsmyth – A Daily Word Game

No gaming list would be complete without a good puzzler. Wordsmyth has a simple premise – one new puzzle for every day you decide to play. As you may have already guessed, the effectiveness of Wordsmyth lies in its simplicity. Players are given 9 letters placed randomly on a 3×3 grid. These letters must be used to create as many words as possible but, unlike similar puzzle games, there is no time limit to worry about.

With over 18 years’ worth of built-in combinations, an updated dictionary complete with definitions, and a relaxing, zen-like soundtrack, Wordsmyth is the perfect game for anyone wanting a laidback puzzle to pass the time.
