Airtel is fond of making PAYU / PayG a default plan when buying a new line. Even if you have an active data on the new line, they will still deduct from your airtime when browsing the internet.
I’ve experienced this sad situation not quite long, whereby I have an active data on my new Airtel line and they keep deducting from my airtime anytime I browse the internet.
Unlike other networks, they will tell you and even give you a code to dial if you wish to browse as PAYU anytime you exhaust your data bundle. That’s the main reason I am writing this post now, as many people are facing such problem too.
HOW TO DEACTIVATE AIRTEL PAYU / PAYG PLAN
It’s quite simple to stop Airtel from deducting from your airtime when browsing. I’ll be dropping two methods on how I achieved that. Kindly read along.
First Method
This method works if you don’t have an active data on your line and you wish to stop Airtel PAYU.
What you have to do is to subscribe for any data plan. By doing so, you will be be opted out automatically from Airtel PAYU.
Just dial *141# and choose your preferred data bundle
You’ll be asked what should happen when your bundle finishes
just reply with 1, which is Stop My Data
Other Option Stop Airtel Pay As You Go
There are actually two ways you can achieve this, the first is by using a USSD code
