Nikon updated the new firmware version 3.2 of the Z6 and Z7 cameras on December 17, adding support for Blackmagic Design external video recorders.
Update content of firmware version 3.20:
RAW video output can be supported through a paid service upgrade, and firmware version 3.20 under this service adds support for Blackmagic Design external video recorders (currently Video Assist 5″ 12G HDR and Video Assist 7″ 12G HDR). If you have purchased a RAW video output upgrade for your camera, updating to firmware version 3.20 will automatically add support for Blackmagic Design external video recorders.
- Apple Final Cut Pro X (version 10.4.9 or later) users can now perform the following operations for ProRes RAW video clips that use the paid service RAW video output upgrade and output to the ATOMOS NINJA V external recorder: Adjust ISO sensitivity and display and adjust Color temperature*.
Select RAW output type: Before shooting RAW video, please select an option for HDMI>Advanced>RAW output options>RAW output type in the setting menu according to the type of connected video recorder: Choose Type A for NINJA V recorder, and choose Type A for Video Assist recorder Choose Type B.
- Added support for NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S lens.
- The following issues have been resolved:
-When a NIKKOR Z lens is attached, during continuous shooting, rotating the focus ring or (if focus (M/A) is assigned to the control ring) the control ring sometimes fails to activate manual focus.
-When a non-CPU lens is installed via the FTZ mount adapter, the exposure indicator is not displayed in mode M.
-When the aperture is reduced by rotating the control ring of the following lenses in the video mode, some aperture values are not selected:
▹NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3
▹NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR
▹NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR
▹NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR
- When a NIKKOR Z lens is installed, if the bracketing option to change the aperture is selected, an unexpected aperture value is sometimes displayed during bracketing in mode M.
- When the standby timer is activated for a long time in the video mode, the motorized iris control sometimes stops responding.
Naijatechnews understands that the RAW output function requires users to download, print and sign the “Paid Upgrade Service Consent”. Then send the paper consent form together with the camera to Nikon after-sales service outlets. The cost of upgrading the RAW video output is 1700 yuan/unit, and the service takes 7 working days.
