After cracking down on ad-blocking software, Google announces price increase for YouTube Premium in Argentina, Turkey and other countries,
YouTube has been conducting a “small experiment” globally since June, requiring users who use ad-blocking software to turn them off so that they can watch content on the platform.
Now that this is no longer a “small experiment,” YouTube says it will step up its crackdown on ad-blocking software globally and encourage users to choose to allow ads or pay for a YouTube Premium subscription.
At the same time, YouTube Premium also cooperated with the price increase, but it only affected seven countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Chile, Germany, Poland and Turkey.
When users watch YouTube videos using ad blocking software, they will see information similar to the one in the screenshot from IT House. In other words, you can either choose to turn off ad blocking software or subscribe to YouTube Premium service.
YouTube communications manager Christopher Lawton said using ad-blocking software violates the platform’s terms of service, saying: “Ads support the world’s diverse ecosystem of creators and allow billions of people to watch the content they love on YouTube.” .
Effective November 1, YouTube Premium announced price increases in the above-mentioned regions, applicable to individual, family and student plans of YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium, and will also increase the pricing of annual plans in Germany and Turkey.
YouTube said it doesn’t “make these decisions lightly” and said the price increase will allow it to “continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube.”
